The Ultimate Guide to Having a Videographer at Your Wedding

Here are some exciting reasons why you should choose a videographer for your wedding:

Relive the Moment. Wedding videography is completely different from photography. It let's you relive the moment timelessly, with beautiful visuals and sound. You'll be able to hear the crack of emotion as your partner chokes up during the vows or the moment when you had a first look with your dad. You'll be able to hear and see lost loved ones once again. The biggest regret I hear from couples who didn't have a wedding videographer, is that they wish they did. Your wedding is one of the most exciting days of your life, but it can go by in a blur. Having a wedding film to look back on down the road is a special keepsake.

Did you know that happened? My job is to capture not just the big moments and details, but the ones in-between. Videography captures the joy, love, and laughter of your wedding party and guest throughout the day. There are a lot of details that might be missed as your enjoying your wedding, such as hilarious moments with the bridal party, reactions from your guests, and the sweet and candid moments that will happen throughout the day. You can relive your wedding in style through a variety of packages, including highlight videos, the complete ceremony, and key moment edits such as first looks, special dances, and toasts.

How do I pick the right wedding videographer? I always make sure that we're a good fit before we book. Wedding videography is high demand and it's important that book with someone that aligns with your goals and personality. When booking, it's key to be guided by their professionalism when you're inquiring about a videographer's services. Also, ask yourself if they provide what you are looking for. Look at their portfolio. It's more than just great visuals. Your wedding video is a story from start to finish. A wedding videographer will build a story through brilliant visuals, details, and audio from the timeline and craft it into a keepsake for you and your partner. When booking, be sure you enjoy the videographer's style, as all videographer's have a different approach.

Some important things to consider before you book.

- Ensure that their style resonates with you - Videography is an art and it's important to recognize that not every videographer has the same approach, process, or style. Explore their portfolio and watch wedding films from their different packages.

- Are they available? - Wedding videography is an in-demand vendor and are booked up fast! To get the ball rolling faster, be sure to inquire with your wedding date and location. It's also nice to share a little about yourself and your fiancé. Most wedding vendors only consider you to be "booked" once you secure the deposit with them. Be sure you understand the timeline and the process before signing a contract and sending a retainer.

- Make sure you are a good fit - You checked out their wedding videos and you love their plan. Great! Now, it's time for your phone call. This is a great opportunity to see if you vibe. Do you feel like your personalities are a good fit? Is there good communication? As a wedding videographer, I want you to have the best experience because wedding planning should be fun and I want to make this part of the process as easy possible.

I always encourage my couples to ask questions. I want you to feel comfortable and good about your decision. Some questions you may want to ask:

If you're inquiring on a date, your videographer is available, and you feel great about them, BOOK! Chances are, others are asking for the videographer's services too. You can book 1-2 years in advance. If you're hesitant and haven't booked yet, the videographer may fill the date with the first person who secures it with a deposit.

Be sure to communicate with your partner about their vision for a wedding film, as well. Ask them what they envision and what's most important to them to be captured.

Don't let booking a videographer intimidate you, however. Although there are a lot of logistics involved in booking vendors, don't let it bog you down. I strive to help make this part of your planning flawless and fun. I've filmed many, many weddings and with my experience, gear, and expertise, I will be there for you every step of the way. I'm just as excited for your big day as you are!

Remember, it is YOUR wedding!
